Jeff Bezos is a famous american and internet entrepreneur. He’s famous for being the CEO and Founder of Amazon, one of the biggest ecommerce company ever. While driving from Seattle to New York, Bezos wrote the first business plan for the company and he predicted that profitability would have come only after five years. Within two weeks, Amazon was making $20,000/ a week. After only three years in 1997, the company went public under the NASDAQ stock exchange.
The most interesting thing about Bezos is that he was planning to study physics at Princeton, but then he went back to Computer Science and got a Bachelor of Science in this field; he probably made the right choice. In 2000 he founded a spaceflight company, which seems to be dealing with Virgin Galactic. In the past year, he acquired The Washington Post for $250 million in cash. In 1999 he was also named Time Person of The Year and he’s currently a member of the Bilderberg Group.
Bezos who has faced the dot com bubble with his own eyes is an experienced entrepreneur that knows where and how to innovate. In the past years, we have seen many different turnaround strategies (or pivots) in the company itself. Amazon started selling books and ended up selling everything, from toothbrushes to clothing. In the same way with the Kindle, with which he got the Innovation Award from The Economist, and the Amazon Prime Air, Bezos has showed us a deep interest in new technologies that can expand what started as an online bookstore.
Nowadays he is one of the wealthiest people on the world with a net worth of $28 billion and was ranked as the second best CEO in the world in the Harvard Business Review, after Steve Jobs.
