Phil Libin is a Russian-born American entrepreneur. He’s known for being the CEO of Evernote. Before starting Evernote, Phil was the founder of CoreStreet, a security company that was providing credential and identity management technologies to governments. In 2009, CoreStreet was later acquired by ActivIdentity.

In 2000, Phil Libin was running Engine 5, a Boston-based internet software development company, which he sold in that year for $26 million. He attended Boston University with the aim to get a Computer Science degree, but he left University with four credits left. As many other Silicon Valley success stories, he belongs to the dropout generation, even though he left for an argument with the University and was so close to get a degree.

Evernote is about allowing users to organize, capture, and find information across multiple platforms. The data is completely synchronized, which means it’s available on Windows, Mac, Web, and mobile devices at the same time. The company was founded in 2004 and open in beta in 2008. The aim of the company is to be a 100 years startup and Phil Libin is willing to achieve that, although less than 10% of the company’s journey has been achieved.

The company has raised more than $251M in the last eight years and acquired five companies between 2011-2012.
