Over the last week I was able to chat with Co-founder of Campusboard.io, Manuel Friegerio who has founded along side, Anthony Francis a new service for members of Google Campus to build connections and grow contacts as well as to post about opportunities and seek for jobs within the Campus.
Explain the concept of Campus Board for people whom are new to the service?
We were frustrated with the lack of strong connections made at Google Campus. We created Campus Board because we want to helpCampus members achieve better connections offline. We think value is created at it’s best when people can easily express their needs at a co-working space and connect with members that can help them.
Campus Board is a tool that helps Google Members express themselves, allowing them to promote their product, events and opportunities. We help them find what they’re looking for and easily discover other members they can collaborate with.
How far have you come with the service so far? What are your statistics like?
We launched the service January 2014 and thus far have 490+ members and 200+ pins created. On average we get 60 visits a day, 2000+ visits a month with a total of 7000+ page views.
What is your vision statement, What do you want to deliever to people?
We want to give campus members the ability to instantly connect with other members and stimulate offline connection. However, our long term vision it to instantly connect people with what ever they are looking for at any given time.
The world is creating more information, but the problem is, we are bombarded with information that is not relevant to us. We want to deliver an experience where users can specify what they are looking for (jobs, events or opportunities) and Campus Board will takes care of matching the most relevant information to you.
How do Google Campus support you as a start-up? Benefits? Experiences?
Google Campus has been great! They allow us to use their hot-desking & Internet facilities in the basement. Our traction has been organic and our user base has grown by word of mouth. Google Campus is a great place to meet other founders, entrepreneurs and creatives who are also starting up, so there is much to be learnt from each other. The main benefit for Campus Board is the ability to be in direct face-to-face contact with our users. Whenever there is an issue or an improvement that needs to be made, we usually reach out to someone across the table.
Where do you see Campusboard in the next 6 months?
We would be happy if we are still doing what we are doing today, just on a bigger scale. What does that look like? Maybe 100,000 users & revenue :). To be honest, we genuinely want to continue making peoples lives better by allowing our user to instantly connect with each other.
Is there any potential in the service to be used outside of Google Campus?
Most definitely! We can see Campus Board working at other co-working spaces and the wider tech community. Campus Board is just a tool that works pretty well. Wherever there is a place where connections between people can be improved, Campus Board can bring value.
How many employees do you have working on Campusboard at the moment?
At the moment it’s just Anthony Francis (Co-founder) & Manuel Frigerio (Co-founder).
Anthony Francis has a background in banking, technology and business. He more recently worked for J.P. Morgan and co-founded Sorted App Ltd (The Marketplace for local tasks). Anthony founded the Campus Board and focuses on leading the company and drives sales & contributes to site development.
I have a background in marketing and sales, and I’ve worked in banks and financial institutions in Italy. I’ve created several projects (Alink, above all) and I’ve been involved in startups as well. My previous startup, Garageous, was been chosen as one of the 20 most interesting project in the Stanford University Entrepreneurship Course. My job at Campus Board is to drive growth and contribute to site development together with Anthony.
Have you seen any competitors to your service?
Of course! We have competitors that offer similar solutions. However, what we want to achieve in the long term is …….
Have you received any outside funding from investors?
Not yet, Campus Board is currently self sustainable but we are always open to new business opportunities.
Have you any interest from company for a merger or acquisition as of yet?
Not yet.
