Stupid was banned from the Tech Dictionary more than five years ago, when the new mobile phones were being distributed on the market. Now, nothing is stupid but everything is smart. The smart era is yet to come - or maybe we are already in it and we haven’t realised it yet. With the introduction of new smart technologies we are going to be even further integrated with the internet.
Samsung, with the Galaxy Gear has definitely made another step toward a the Tech World that we love. Even though a huge corporation has introduced a technology that was already found by a startup project Pebble, it is good to see the rush for the new emerging market of smart watches. Smart watches seem to be the next big thing in Tech. That’s why Pebble, Samsung and even Nissan have released their smart watches. It is rumoured that there are more smart watches soon to enter the market, but Pebble is still leading the market and we hope that they will overwhelm the market as they are the true innovators of this technology.
At the same time, dozens of people are working on smart wristbands that are able to count steps, calories and your heart beat. Health and fitness are important issues to us and now we are able to monitor and control them thanks to new technologies and the huge steps that have been made in the past years. What we might be able to see in the next years are strong connections with smart shoes that will can to our wristbands in order to exchange data at any time. Although smartphones and smart watches can do the same job, wristbands are still a better choice because they are smaller, cheaper and lighter.
Furthermore, as everyone knows, Google has been working on its smart car for the last years. What we expect is a full integration with Android and Project Glass. If we don’t drive the car, we will need some form of entertainment while we are waiting to arrive at the correct destination. It seems that a mobile phone and Glass can create the perfect mix of entertainment. It is still unknown when the car will be ready, but there might be other companies working on similar prototypes.
Google should release the first version of Glass by the end of this year. Glass is not only what we are all waiting for, but also the beginning of a new market in the tech world. In the same way as they did with the smart watches, several companies are testing their own prototypes in order to compete with Google in this emerging market. The Glass market is even something more powerful than that of the smartwatch because there is a widespread usage in the world. If they can be incorporated with lens, as Google promises, everyone will possibly be a costumer.
The world is filling up with smart technologies that are literally invading the consumers market. We don’t know what the next innovations are going to be, but it is certain that the future generations are going to live with the Internet constantly by their side on smart devices, which will be completely incorporated in their lives.
