It isn’t easy to get the right news when you own an iPad, and sometimes it can be a little bit frustrating because many websites tend to use flash and heavy webpages. However there are three apps that have changed my life during the last six months. I have downloaded them for free on the App store and after installing them I fell in love with them. Today I want to talk about them: Flipboard, Pulse and Zite.
Three competitive social magazine apps that have changed the way we read news on the internet.

Flipboard is a social magazine app. The company has been founded in 2010 by Mike McCue and Evan Doll and it is based in Palo Alto, California. At the beginning they decided that Flipboard was designed just for the iPad, but then when they saw the users growth, they moved to the iPhone and iPod. In order to read something you have to setup a feed. You can look for it or you can find pre saved feeds on the app. After that you just have to flip on your tablet to read the best news of the day.
The killer idea is about the desing, which is simple and intuitive. You don’t have to scroll down a page or find a news in dozens of lines, you just have to read what you have in front of you; and if you don’t like it, you flip the page and read the next one.

Pulse
In the same way as Flipboard, Pulse is a news reader app. Instead of developing just for iOS (iPad and iPhone), Pulse is also on Android. The company was founded in 2010 by two stanford graduates.
Although Flipboard seems a better alternative to me, Pulse has something that Flipboard doesn’t have. You can simply add columns and boxes, which are showed on a single line; so at the end you will be able to see more news and topics with just a glance instead of flipping the device several times.
Further Pulse had the honor to be featured by Steve Jobs.

Zite
Zite is kind of a new entry for me. At the beginning I used just Flipboard, but then I tried Zite and I discovered an interesting and amazing environment. When you download it, you can choose the topics that you want to see. Then Zite organizes the news in a newspaper style. You can also view just your favourite topics instead of reading the top news from all the interests. Further you can sync Zite with your Google Reader account.

These three apps are outstanding; they are changing the way we read news on our devices. I have been using them for a while and now I can say that they are a “Must Have”.
